The Playhouse aims to be accessible to everyone.
We have a range of facilities to meet people's requirements including disabled parking at the front of the building and level access, Braille signs and lifts inside the building. Guide dogs and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf are very welcome.
To find out more about how West Yorkshire Playhouse aims to provide a Welcome that's available to everyone download Open to Everyone, in word format, created in association with Mind the Gap theatre company.
If you or anyone in your party has a mobility impairment,
hearing or visual impairment, vertigo or claustrophobia or will be
accompanied by Hearing or Guide Dog, please let the Box Office know
and they will try to advise you on seating.
Please note that the Playhouse can be a busy place with two
auditoriums and space for more than 1000 people on
site. If there is anything we can do to make your
visit easier please contact us to discuss your requirements.

price in Area B, regardless of where they sit. If you require a

Access Performances
British Sign Language Interpreted, Audio Described and
Captioned performances run for all West Yorkshire Playhouse
productions. We are also running Relaxed Performances, for young
people with learning disabilities on our Christmas Courtyard show.
There are also occasional touring productions who have captioned,
signed and audio described shows. These performances are listed on
show pages.
If you are hearing impaired or deaf
You can book tickets and get more information about the
shows by calling us on our minicom on 0113 213 7299 or faxing us on
0113 213 7210. Both of these numbers are operated by the Box Office
so you can contact us from Monday to Saturday between 10am and 8pm
or one hour before a Sunday performance.
There are induction loops in both theatres. For the loop to work you will need to collect an individual neck loop from Reception or Box Office and turn your hearing aid to T. If your hearing aid doesn't have a T setting the induction loop will not work.
If you are visually impaired
You can receive your brochure on Audio CD, in Large Print
and in Braille, email access@wyp.org.uk for your
copy. Free cast lists in Large Print and Braille formats and
written synopses are also available for most productions, please
email access@wyp.org.uk if you
would like to recieve one.
As well as listening to the dialogue on stage in Audio Described performances you can wear a headset and listen to a live description of the action on stage. We also offer customers a Free Touch Tour before each Audio Described performance, which frequently takes place on the actual set and includes being able to touch props and costumes.
Disabled Toilets
We have fully accessible Disabled Toilets and a Changing Places
toilet, with more space to meet the needs of severely disabled
people, including those with profound and multiple learning
disabilities, as well as other serious
impairments. A Changing Places toilet has sufficient space to
easily accommodate two carers, and is fitted with specialist
equipment including a hoist, a height adjustable changing bench
suitable for adults and children, and a shower.
For security reasons our disabled toilets are radar locked but you can use your radar key to access them. If you do not have a radar key please ask for a key at Reception.
